Kevin W. Dahill

Kevin Dahill assumed the leadership post of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council in 2002. Under his direction, the association, which represents Long Island’s not-for-profit and public hospitals, has dramatically enhanced its presence among lawmakers, the media, and the public and is truly the collective voice of Long Island’s hospitals. Dahill is routinely sought for his expertise on a variety of health care issues such as: hospital economics and finance, health services planning, hospitals and community benefit, workforce issues, corporate compliance, quality and performance improvement issues, and managed care practices.

He imparts his health care administrative knowledge to numerous organizations and sits on a variety of health care task forces, including Action Long Island, the Long Island Association, and the Hauppauge Industrial Association. In addition, he often serves in an advisory capacity to local, state, and federal elected officials on matters related to health care legislation and policy development.

Currently, he sits on the boards of the New York Organ Donor Network and the Urban League of Long Island.

Prior to his appointment at the NSHC, Dahill served as President and CEO of the New York United Hospital in Port Chester, New York. Previously, he held a variety of administrative positions that spanned 25 years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, before departing as Senior Vice President and General Manager in 1994.

Dahill holds a bachelor of science degree in health care management from St. Peter’s College (Jersey City, NJ) and a master’s in business administration from Fordham University (New York, NY). He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Administrators and the American Association of Association Executives. He serves as adjunct professor of management at St. Peter’s College and St. Joseph’s College on Long Island.

Dahill served as chairman for the National Conference of Metropolitan Hospital Associations (CMHA) in 2006.

He resides on Long Island with his wife, Eileen.

Wendy Darwell

Wendy D. Darwell is the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council, the membership organization that represents the interests of the region’s 24 public and not-for-profit hospitals. In this role, she is responsible for advocating the hospitals’ interests before the state and federal governments, providing membership services to Long Island’s hospitals, and managing the daily operations of the Hospital Council.

Prior to joining the Hospital Council in December 2007, Ms. Darwell served for seven years as chief of staff to U.S. Representative Maurice Hinchey, who represents portions of New York’s Hudson Valley, Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions. In that capacity, she directed the congressman’s legislative, media and political operations and supervised the operation of his five offices in New York and Washington, D.C., while also holding direct responsibility for all health policy matters. From 1994 to 2000, she served in several legislative and communications positions on Congressman Hinchey’s staff, specializing in health care, appropriations and community development policy.

Ms. Darwell is a graduate of American University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. A native of the Hudson Valley, she and her husband now reside in Miller Place, New York

Janine Logan
Director of Communications

Janine Logan is director of communications for the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council, a post she has held since 2002. Prior to this appointment, she served the Hospital Council as editor of is publication – Hospital and Health News – the only regional health care trade publication of its kind in the area.

In her role as communications director, Logan coordinates marketing/communications initiatives for the Hospital Council, ensuring that the appropriate messages about hospitals and health care policy are delivered and understood by such targeted audiences as: the media, lawmakers, business and industry, government agencies, allied health associations, and the public.

She previously served as assistant director of public relations for South Oaks Hospital, a  comprehensive behavioral health care facility, and its sister agency, Broadlawn Manor. Both are located on Long Island.

From 1982 to 1988, she served as the public relations coordinator for the National Catholic Development Conference, headquartered in Hempstead, New York, a membership association for religious fund raising organizations.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in Communication Arts from St. John’s University and is nationally accredited by the Public Relations Society of America in the practice of public relations – a distinction for which she must maintain continuing accreditation every three years.

She resides in Babylon, New York with her husband and four children.

Stacy Villagran
Director of Healthy Families Program

Stacy Villagran has been with the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC) for over 7 years and is currently the Director of the Child and Family Health Plus Program serving both Nassau and Suffolk County. She also serves as NSHC’s liaison with the New York State Department of Health.

Prior to working with NSHC, Stacy worked with the United Way of Long Island as the Assistant Vice President of the Success by Six Initiative.

As the director of the Facilitated Enrollment Program for Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Family Health Plus, Stacy oversees the daily activities of the facilitated enrollment program, which has processed nearly 40,000 applications and has enabled thousands of Long Islanders who qualify to become insured through one of the public health insurance programs offered in New York State.

Stacy is also a member of the Suffolk County Minority Health Action Coalition at Stony Brook University and the Access Health Care Long Island Coalition at the Health and Welfare Council of LI.

Stacy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stony Brook University and a Master of Arts Degree in Social Policy from Empire State College.
